To make it even easier for you to plan your trip I’ll share my favorite way to get to Manitoulin Island (the world’s largest freshwater island). First, look over this Google Map and locate the Bruce Peninsula to know where you’re going to drive towards from where you live.

Basically you drive up the famous Bruce Peninsula to the northern most tip town of Tobermory where you’ll buy a boarding pass for the Chi–Cheemaun ferry (both car and motorcycle freindly). Once aboard you’ll take a spectacular cruise towards South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island. Once on land again your adventure begins. Make sure to get a map at any visitor centre across the island.
WHERE TO STAY: I recommend Gordon’s Park Eco-resort. They have camping spots, campgrounds, tipi tents, dark ski retreat camping and an Interpretive Centre featuring mounted animal displays of bears & wolves, hawks & owls & other Canadian wildlife – kids love it. Call them now to book your accomodations as they fill up fast for long weekends (705) 859-2470.
